When you’ve spent years building complex systems, growth doesn’t just come from learning more, it comes from learning how to lead, influence decisions, and connect technical work to real-world outcomes.
That’s why we’re excited to celebrate four Omnicell employees who have been accepted into the Pittsburgh Robotics Network’s 2026 Deep Tech Institute Senior Leaders Program: Kiara Yough Weltner, Peter Sandrian, Sarah Nelson, and Wynter Ambrogio.
About the Program
The Deep Tech Institute (DTI) - developed as an initiative of the Pittsburgh Robotics Network - is designed for technical professionals who are ready to grow beyond their craft and into leadership.
Through the Senior Leaders Program, participants join a cohort of peers across the Pittsburgh robotics and AI community and learn from industry experts, guest speakers, and mentors. Real conversations shape how to lead teams, navigate decisions, and connect technical work to business impact, then participants learn to apply those ideas back to the work they’re doing every day. Building trust with this network of peers, experts, guest speakers, and mentors helps them develop into sector leaders during the program and beyond.
Why Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh is home to a growing deep tech ecosystem, and programs like DTI draw on the strength of the Pittsburgh robotics and AI community to bring companies, talent, and ideas together and create more opportunities for engineers and innovators to build careers locally.
“We’ve had speakers who are really active in the Pittsburgh robotics community, and it’s been so valuable to hear specific examples of what’s happening here in our city.” — Sarah Nelson
“There’s a real foundation here from manufacturing that’s carried into newer industries, especially in med tech - we have such a hub here. Is there really a better place to be?” — Kiara Yough Weltner
Meet the Four Omnicell Participants
Kiara Yough Weltner
Kiara Weltner is a Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer based in Warrendale, PA. Her work focuses on ensuring the quality and reliability of the components that go into Omnicell’s products, and she works closely with business partners and suppliers internationally.
A Pittsburgh native, she’s enjoyed the intentionality that the Senior Leader’s Program has brought to her career development.
“It really gives you space to explore your career path without the pressure. I can just explore my skills and see if this is something that I want to set up in my future goals.” — Kiara Yough Weltner
Peter Sandrian
Peter Sandrian is a Mechanical Engineer based in Warrendale, PA, where he focuses on product development for Omnicell’s IVX Station, supporting solutions from concept through manufacturing.
He was drawn to the Senior Leaders Program as a way to be more intentional about his growth and stay connected beyond his day-to-day work.
“It’s a really good chance to intentionally track my progress on self-development… [and] refresh my network.” — Peter Sandrian
Sarah Nelson
Sarah Nelson is a Software Engineer IV based in Warrendale, PA. She joined Omnicell more than five years ago and has been focused on the IVX Station, where her work centers on developing and supporting software that powers complex robotics systems.
What stands out most to her is the chance to connect with others who are navigating similar challenges, both technically and professionally.
“My favorite part has just been being able to talk to people who are in similar stages of their careers and are working toward similar goals.” — Sarah Nelson
Wynter Ambrogio
Wynter Ambrogio is a Supplier Quality Engineer based in Warrendale, PA. Her work centers on ensuring that every component that goes into Omnicell’s products meets the highest standards.
For Wynter, being accepted into the Deep Tech Institute’s Senior Leaders Program came with a mix of excitement and uncertainty, as she isn’t in a formal leadership position.
What she found through the experience, though, reshaped how she thinks about leadership entirely.
“It’s reinforced that leadership isn’t really about a position, it’s more about your mindset and your behavior.” — Wynter Ambrogio
Across four different roles, a shared theme stands out: strong technical skills are only part of the job. Scaling impact also means communicating clearly, collaborating across teams, and making informed decisions in fast-moving environments.
“So much of my role comes down to relationships—whether it’s suppliers, business partners, or our international teams. The stronger those relationships are, the more effective we can be.” — Kiara Yough Weltner
Congratulations again to Kiara, Peter, Sarah, and Wynter on being accepted into the Pittsburgh Robotics Network’s 2026 Deep Tech Institute Senior Leaders Program. We’re proud to see them growing their leadership and bringing new perspectives back to their work at Omnicell.
